Frank and Mary Beth Chan have owned their home for over 30 years. Unfortunately, it was stuck in a time warp. Their request was that we update and warm up the exterior and interior while bringing harmony and some pizzaz.

As you can see from the pictures, the exterior was rather white with some green trim. We came up with a palette of warm colors that also ecsentuates the brick wall by the front door. The walkway was also widen and paved in a slate. Landcaping was introduced with a new coral bark maple tree and ornamental grasses. The house now has curb appeal.

Once you enter the front door and step into the living room, it has a welcoming feel because the furniture was moved for better Feng Shui in the house. A red wall punctuates the room and accents the cherry wood furniture. The cranberry red was pulled from an old family oil painting.

The kitchen had the original oak cabinetry with mint green walls. We decided to tear everything out and put in new cabinets with wainscot panels and distressed edges. The look was inspired by two new cube coffee tables in the family room. The cabinets also have new non slamming latches. Everything was configured for the client's easy access. Out went the tile countertops and in went a dark green granite. The floor was updated to Brazilian slate.

The very white hallway bathroom was gutted and transformed into a modern spa getaway. We used travertine tiles and accented them with white irredescent glass tiles. The shower now has a frameless glass door which pivots 180 degrees. A new pedestal sink and modern wall sconces were also introduced in the space What a transformation this room went through.

The master bedroom got custom draperies in two shades of cocoa. Those colors were meant to compliment the new sleepy blue color we used for the entire room and master bathroom. Crown molding also detailed the top of the room. The changes sure brought character and softness the master bedroom.
